AskNova Astrology ("AskNova", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website and astrology platform (the "Service").

This policy applies to all users worldwide. Where regional data protection laws (such as UK GDPR, EU GDPR, CCPA, APPI, or LGPD) grant you additional rights, those are outlined in Section 8.

Information you provide:

  • Birth data — Date, time, and place of birth, used to generate astrological charts. Without an account, this stays in your browser's local storage and never reaches our servers. With an account, it is stored on our servers to sync across devices.
  • Account information — Email address and password when you sign up.
  • Payment information — Billing name, address, and card details when you subscribe to Premium. Your full card number goes directly to Stripe — we never see or store it.
  • Communications — Anything you send us via email or feedback.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage and device data — Pages visited, features used, time spent, IP address, browser type, and device type — collected via cookies and standard server logs (see Section 6).

( 3 ) How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Generate and display your astrological charts.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions (via Stripe).
  • Respond to support requests.
  • Understand how people use the Service so we can make it better (via Google Analytics, with IP anonymisation where available).
  • Send essential service communications (e.g., billing confirmations, security alerts).
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects. Under UK and EU GDPR, the legal bases for this processing are performance of contract, legitimate interest, and legal obligation, depending on the purpose.

( 4 ) Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data only with the following service providers, who process it on our behalf:

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe receives your card and billing details directly. See stripe.com/privacy.
  • Google Analytics — Website analytics. Receives usage and device data via cookies. See policies.google.com/privacy.
  • City/timezone lookup APIs — Receive location queries (city names) to return geographic data. No personal identifiers are shared.
  • Hosting provider — Our infrastructure provider hosts the servers where account data is stored.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users. If AskNova is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, we will notify you before your data is transferred.

( 5 ) International Data Transfers

AskNova operates from the UK. If you access the Service from elsewhere, your data may be transferred to and stored in the UK or other countries where our providers operate.

For users in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) are in place for any transfers outside these regions. You may request details of these safeguards by emailing us.

We use a small number of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — Required for the Service to function (e.g., authentication, sessions). No consent needed.
  • Functional cookies — Remember your preferences (e.g., chart settings). Based on legitimate interest.

( 7 ) Data Retention

  • Birth data (no account) — Stored in your browser only. We never have it.
  • Birth data and account info — Kept while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion, unless we are legally required to retain it.
  • Payment records — Retained for up to 7 years for UK tax and accounting purposes.
  • Analytics data — Retained in aggregated or anonymised form.

( 8 ) Your Rights

Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to withdraw consent or object to certain processing.

UK and EU users — Under GDPR, you can exercise these rights by contacting us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

California residents — Under CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information. We do not sell or share your data for advertising purposes.

Users in Japan and Brazil — You have corresponding rights under APPI and LGPD respectively.

You can delete saved profiles directly from your account settings at any time. To delete your account entirely, please email us at hello@asknovaastrology.com.

( 9 ) Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

( 10 ) Security

We use appropriate measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. That said, no system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection. Please keep your account credentials confidential.

( 11 ) Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance via the Service or by email.
